The artist-in-me is enlivened by the more visual nature of communications, today. Showing the world just a bit of the amazing depth of Penn State is exciting, as I manage the new Tumblr blog called Big Black Glasses, pushing out (mostly Penn State) STEM excitement to tweeners, feeds my creative side. I work in photography, text/image editing and connecting with resources, daily. I especially like building collaborations. Let's chat.

Ed Smiley is the manager of Compliance and Assessments within the Office of Information Security. Ed leads the PCI compliance, vulnerability and web application assessments, and penetration-testing programs related to enterprise compliance at the University. Ed is currently enrolled in the Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP), a program to enhance the professional and personal development of Information Technology (IT) Professionals and sits on many strategic committees related to process and change of IT at Penn State.

Ed has been at the University for almost 12 years and six of those were spent getting his Ph.D from the Department of Chemistry in 2006. Jeff Knapp is the Larry & Ellen Foster Communications Librarian and has been with the Penn State University Libraries since 2002. Being a librarian, he is interested in everything.

Joe has been the Web Manager for the Eberly College of Science at Penn State University since the beginning of 2010. Prior to that he worked as a programmer/analyst in the College of IST's Solution's Institute.

Joe is very interested in leading the effort to raise the quality of the Penn State web presence. His areas of focus these days are accessibility, usability, progressive enhancement and responsive design implemented within content management systems.

John Meier is a math, patent, and trademark librarian at the Penn State University Libraries. He frequently finds himself helping Penn State World Campus students locate the materials they need for online courses in math and engineering topics.

I have taught at Penn College for over eleven years after returning to college and making a career change. Teaching is what I am passionate about. I enjoy connecting with students on their level while getting them excited about the latest methods, tools and technologies related to Web development and design.

I am also passionate about being outdoors. I like to get "off the grid" as much as possible while backpacking, kayaking, sailing or skiing.

Lisa just recently moved on from the University to work as a Project Engineer Manager for FusionStorm (an IT solutions provider based out of San Francisco and New York City). As a member of the Expert Services team, Lisa manages the fulfillment and support of the consulting engineering team for Advanced Services engagements.

Prior to taking her new job with FusionStorm, Lisa was a lead developer on World Campus Learning Design Evolution in-house CMS system. Functions include improving processing tools, design interface, and project management.

As Co-Director of the Master of Arts in Educational technology program at Michigan State, Liz is dedicated to supporting students and the diverse goals, needs, and backgrounds they bring to MAET. Liz is a graduate of Michigan State University’s Educational Psychology & Educational Technology program, where she studied videogames for learning. She has been an instructor for the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program since 2013, and has taught in the online, hybrid, and overseas formats. Liz writes and plays music, and also enjoys drawing and playing video games.
